As a globally recognized expert and supplier in the offshore wind sector, DHI has played a pivotal role in over 85% of commissioned offshore wind farms worldwide. As the Head of the Offshore Biodiversity department, you will lead and grow a dynamic, highly scientific, and successful team dedicated to solving complex environmental challenges, including the effects of noise on marine mammals and changes in biodiversity following offshore constructions. The focus of your department is centred on understanding the impact of offshore infrastructures and activities on marine biodiversity and ecology and furthermore spearheads crucial initiatives such as: Ecosystem based management and biodiversity quantification, agent-based modelling, ecological connectivity modelling, Seabed monitoring, eDNA and much more. 

You will be responsible for leading and growing the team, ensuring an engaging and productive working environment where people thrive and develop. You will also take the role of project manager leading specialist teams of local and international experts to deliver projects to the highest standard of excellence and on time. 

Furthermore, you will be responsible for growing the business by managing accounts of both existing and new strategic offshore wind clients. You will take an active role in supporting senior management in executing the company strategy and facilitate business development initiatives. You will take initiative to pursue new leads and prepare supporting cost benefit analysis and proof of concept studies to facilitate strategic sales efforts. You will play an active role in maintaining an ongoing supportive dialogue with your key accounts and growth prosperous business relationships based on accountability, integrity, and trust.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop Specialists and Project Managers.
  • Grow the department under approved budget and operation model.
  • Set clear targets for performance and development of your section's employees, including onboarding activities and individual development plans.
  • Monitor profitability and operational excellence.
  • Execute department strategy and contribute to short/mid-term strategy. 
  • Manage and nurtures client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate activities and collaboration across different business units with focus on efficiency and timely delivery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:

  • Previous experience from a leadership position 
  • A proven track record of leading a cross-cultural, highly specialized team in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and diverse stakeholders is advantageous.
  • Master's/PhD degree in relevant field (e.g., Marine Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, being able to take the lead on project reports and other deliverables.
  • Ability and interest in understanding client needs and developing solutions to match these.

Office location

The position is based at our our headquarters in Hørsholm, located about 25 km north of Copenhagen. With the bus stop conveniently located right outside our front door, commuting to our office in Hørsholm from Copenhagen is easy. Whether you are arriving from Nørreport station in just 35 minutes or Amagerbro station in a quick 45 minutes, you will find the commute to be efficient.
